The number of women visiting their family doctor for a preventive cytology test has doubled, indicating greater participation in screening and better access to preventive care.
These results were presented by UNFPA at the Annual Forum of the Alliance for Cervical Cancer Prevention, held in Skopje, Macedonia.
There are 12 colposcopy offices operating at the district level, facilitating early diagnosis and bringing health services closer to women in all regions. Screening is offered free of charge to women aged 25 to 65, and is a key component of national efforts to prevent cervical cancer.
